Multiplying Roots
When you multiply two roots with the SAME base number, you add the indices
- Example 1. work out 625½ × 625¼
- Example 2. work out 10241/10 × 10241/5
625½ × 625¼
| = | 625(½+¼) = 6253/4 | |
| = | (4√625)3 = 53 = 125 |
10241/10 × 10241/5
| = | 1024(1/10+1/5) = 10243/10 | |
| = | (10241/10)3 = 23 = 8 |
Note: a recap on adding fractions when the denominator is different refer to Fractions - add when denominator is different
